Default Why The Hell Doesn't Mist Form Do As It Says?

I always use mist form when trying to run places or farm chests because it says for 18 secs you can't take or deal dmg from attacks. So why is it, whenever I have it on me & I run into a group of enemies, I'm dead within seconds?

Spells aren't considered attacks here I believe...

Yeah, Anet is working on clarifying spell descriptions. A lot of them are totally unclear imo.

Wiki is your friend ...

Quote:
For 8...18 seconds, you cannot take or deal damage from attacks.

Attack can mean the following:

* A combat attack is an attack performed with the wielded primary weapon. When skill descriptions say "in combat," they mean performing a combat attack.
* "Physical attack" and "elemental attack" mean physical damage and elemental damage, respectively, when used in the context of weapon or armor descriptions (such as "+10 armor versus elemental attacks"). This does not refer to attacks in the combat sense, since such armor would provide its bonus against a spell like Fireball.

Note: In general, the use of skills (with the exception of attack skills) do not constitute attacks/combat, even if they deal damage to enemies.

Mist Form helps against enemy physicals (interrupts come through, though).
Obsidian Flesh, Spell Breaker and Vow of Silence keep enemy spellcasters at bay.
Shadow Form does both (you'll still get zapped by signets, though).

MF, OF and SF can be maintained indefinitely, VoS almost (with a 1/4 sec window of vulnerability in between). Haven't checked SP lately.

Yes, Mist Form prevents you from taking damage from physical attacks (meaning from swords, daggers, axes, wands, hammers, scythes, bows, staves and spears). However, it does not prevent any additional goodies from harming you (such as daze, crippling, poison, burning, etc.). I tried to run through the shiverpeaks with Mist Form and I was crippled by a stone summit ranger.

When ANet did the descriptions, they knew what they ment and thought others would too. Unfortunately, English may not be everyone's primary language (or at the very least, not everyone is very fluent in it), so not everyone is on the same wave length as ANet. Many descriptions are not 100% clear to everyone (including those who are primarily English speakers), but without going into extreme detail in the description of skills for each skill, ANet tries their best to keep things neat and clear.

It does.

Mystery already pointed out what it means. Words in GW have a VERY specific terminology. For instance, "signets" aren't spells or attacks, so they will hit through Mist Form or Vow of Silence.

Thats why I always suggest confronting ingame knowledge with wiki, a lot of things start to give sense.
